Waldquartier Wackerberg:
»Luxurious Hideaway«

Waldquartier Wackerberg:
»Luxurious Hideaway«

»The light of the stars is reflected only in a calm pond.«

Chinese sign

Chinese proverb

C ertainly, he was well connected - the Düsseldorf industrialist, who bought almost 40,000 square metres of woodland from a Catholic parish in the early twenties of the last century and built a veritable hunting and forestry lodge on it.
Situated at an altitude of 500 m above sea level, not far from the summit of the Wackerberg, but sheltered from the elements, the property can still only be reached by forest paths over the last few kilometres. At the same time, it is less than one hour´s drive away from the cities of Cologne, Bonn, and Aachen

front side

A house for special events

There are many good reasons for taking a few days off from everyday life, for example -

  • celebrating an anniversary or a milestone birthday in the family;
  • organizing a hiking or wellness weekend with good friends;
  • preparing for an important examination.

The "Waldquartier Wackerberg" on the edge of the Eifel National Park offers a suitable setting with all amenities for up to 16 people.

aerial view

In the middle of the forest

Silence - space - solitude: The best prerequisites to gain distance and to find oneself.
Today, it is almost a privilege to discover places such as the almost 100-year-old hunting and forester's lodge, surrounded on all sides by a closed wooded area, carefully restored and modernised, tastefully furnished and equipped with contemporary technology.
But the "Luxurious Hideaway" is not completely cut off from the outside world: Free WLAN is available for communication; all German mobile phone networks are well received, some of them in the LTE standard.

terrace

My favourite place

The sun is already there early in the morning - the spacious wooden terrace facing south and east on the back of the house with a direct connection to the holiday apartment.
Here you can relax, read, play or just sit together with friends enjoying a cup of coffee or tea.

trampoline

Great leaps

Several wildflower meadows around the house, a barbecue hut and an (improvised) archery course support the "outdoor experience". And if you want to make really big jumps, just get on the trampoline.

panorama

The Eifel in winter or: A view from the window

There is nothing more reassuring than taking a walk through the Eifel with deep snow and winter sunshine. Only the crunching of the shoes on the snow at every step is audible, every other noise appears to be contained. Even the animals in the forest seem to enjoy the silence. The city and the noise are infinitely far away, nature displays a white splendour.

Wackerberg in winter time A long drive might spoil this joy - but a morning view from the window of Waldquartier Wackerberg promises romantic winter atmosphere from the very beginning.
The snow hike starts right at the front door - it's only a few hundred metres to the Eifelsteig. In the nearby National Park Eifel there are a few specially cleared paths
For more ambitious guests, two small winter sports centres (just a few kilometres away from Hellenthal) offer ski rental and a ski hut, two downhill slopes (350m & 550m) with ski lift, 2 toboggan runs and approx. 15 km of cross-country ski trails.

Inner values

interior design A real estate agent, questioned about three main criteria for a house, always answers "location, location, location". But if you want to feel really comfortable for a few days, you'll also pay attention to the "inner values" of the domicile:

  • Is there enough space available to allow participants of a larger group to get out of the way, if necessary?
  • Are the rooms tastefully furnished and the beds comfortable?
  • Is the kitchen completely equipped with coffee machine and tea maker, for baking, cooking and barbecuing, with microwave and dishwasher?
  • Are there enough baths avoiding standing in line each morning?
  • What about leisure activities in the house - e. g. sauna, table tennis and fitness equipment?
